OUR STORY

Pegasus has been roasting small batches of high-quality coffee on Bainbridge Island, WA since 1979.

Pioneers from the beginning, we introduced the European-style Coffee House to the region at our first store on Bainbridge in 1980. In 1983, we made history again when we opened the very first specialty coffee bar in downtown Seattle.

Over the years, our deep commitments to quality and community have led to the unique, delicious blends and single-origin coffees – and the loyal customer following – we continue to enjoy today.

OUR COFFEE

Pegasus Coffee is committed to consistently producing great-tasting coffee of excellent quality. We source only high-grown, high-scoring, specialty-grade Arabica coffee. We select beans with flavor in mind from highly sought-after origins, and pay more than 2x the Fair Trade Minimum price to ensure a sustainable standard of living for farmers. We roast everything we sell to order and in small batches, perform regular taste-checks, and do not ship anything that does not meet our quality, freshness and flavor standards.

ORIGINAL COFFEE HOUSE

The Pegasus Coffee House on Bainbridge Island has a fascinating history. Originally built as a hardware store in 1937, it later served as a registration center for Japanese Americans during World War II.

In 1980, it became the birthplace of Pegasus Coffee, the first coffee roaster to serve espresso over the counter in the Seattle area.

At the Coffee House today, we continue to honor its rich history as a meeting place, community hub, performing arts venue and, of course, an iconic destination for some of the world's finest coffee.
